One mission, many ways to make an impact
DSCI plays a leading role in promoting service and volunteerism across the state through two main programs, The Maryland Corps/Service Year Option Program and AmeriCorps Maryland Programs.
Service will save us
The Maryland Corps/Service Year Option Program was created by Governor Wes Moore with a simple but powerful idea: “Service will save us.” As a hallmark of his administration, he established the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation.

"I'm so grateful for the MC/SYO Program providing me with the opportunity to gain a full-time position within my desired field. As an emerging public historian, my time with the Maryland Corps has helped me get my foot in the door, while also supporting the work of small public history institutions like Catoctin Furnace."
