Enhance your organization’s capacity with AmeriCorps Maryland funding opportunities

AmeriCorps is the largest funder of national service in the United States, connecting organizations, public agencies, and institutions of higher education with individuals willing to dedicate their time and efforts to addressing critical needs across the state. AmeriCorps Maryland offers funding to support the development and operation of programs that engage individuals in direct service.

To qualify for funding through an operational grant, AmeriCorps Maryland programs must support the equivalent of 20 full-time AmeriCorps Members in their first year of operation. The amount of the grant award is based on the number of AmeriCorps Members serving with the organization. Organizations launching new programs may apply for planning grant opportunities. These grants do not include AmeriCorps Members but enable organizations to lay the foundation for a successful AmeriCorps operational program.

Please note that some AmeriCorps grant opportunities require matching funds.

FY27 AmeriCorps Maryland Funding Opportunity Now Open

Eligible organizations may apply to engage AmeriCorps members in service addressing critical needs in Maryland communities. Applications are due November 4, 2026.

Maryland organizations know their communities. AmeriCorps Maryland provides a way to turn that knowledge into structured service—with members, federal resources, training, and measurable goals. The Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation is now accepting applications for FY27 AmeriCorps State funding for programs serving solely within Maryland during the 2027–2028 program year.

AmeriCorps grants help organizations address documented community needs while creating meaningful service experiences and pathways to education and careers. Proposed programs should pair a clear service model with measurable outcomes, strong member support, sound financial management, and the organizational capacity to operate a compliant national-service program.

This funding opportunity is for AmeriCorps Maryland, Maryland’s state-administered federal national-service program. It is separate from Maryland Corps, DSCI’s state-funded service and workforce-development program.

Eligible applicants may include nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, local governments and school districts, states and territories, and qualifying tribal organizations. Organizations proposing a single-state program operating only in Maryland must apply through DSCI. New applicants should review the NOFO carefully because this funding opportunity limits new-applicant eligibility to organizations with current or prior AmeriCorps grant experience.

Continuation applicants are not required to recreate their entire previously approved application. Grants Gateway will carry forward designated content, but not every section will populate. Continuation applicants must review carried-forward information, complete the Annual Reflection and Continuation Changes sections, update the FY27 budget, and submit all required current documents. Continuation funding is not automatic.

All applications and required additional documents must be submitted in Grants Gateway no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on November 4, 2026. Funding is subject to available appropriations, and awards may be made for less than the amount requested.
